Motiva implants are silicone gel devices manufactured by Establishment Labs in Costa Rica. The range uses a smooth surface the company calls SmoothSilk, and offers round and ergonomic shapes, the latter designed so the gel moves with the patient’s position.
Some models can be supplied with an implantable identification chip that stores the device details, so that the exact implant placed can be identified later without records being needed.
Which implant suits a patient is determined by chest measurements, tissue thickness and the shape being planned — not by manufacturer. Every silicone breast implant, from every maker, carries the same category of long-term considerations: capsular contracture, the possibility of rupture, and the fact that implants are not lifetime devices. Naming a manufacturer is not a claim that one system produces a better result than another. Outcomes depend far more on planning, on the surgery itself and on how you heal than on whose system is used. Ask for the make, model and reference number of anything implanted, in writing, before you travel home.
